Brunch Chef | Chichester
Overview
17 Grams is currently looking for an experienced chef to join our growing friendly team. Our regular kitchen shift patterns operate between 8:00am – 6:00pm over a 4 day working week. Your shifts will rotate but may include 1 day off over the weekend so you can look forward to no nights and a great work/life balance.
You will be confident and have the relevant experience to follow our menus, have a good understanding of food hygiene, EHO guidelines and procedures; as well as be willing to undertake food preparation, ordering and when needed have the experience to manage a small kitchen team.
We prep all food from scratch with fresh ingredients, so a history of kitchen knowledge and recipe following is essential for this role.
Initially you will be serving our all-day brunch menu single handed to our existing large customer base, so having the ability to put in place a good methodical workflow is important.
The Candidate
- Experienced working in a commercial kitchen
- Be competent and confident in food preparation and running a busy service single handed
- Be confident and efficient in organising and placing orders with our suppliers
- Will maintain a fast and efficient work ethic
- Able to follow our recipes
- Good organisation and timekeeping skills are essential
- You will have some experience in a fast-paced environment, but also able be happy to turn your attentions to other tasks on quieter days in the kitchen
- You will have experience and a proven track record in being able to produce consistently high-quality food with an eye for detail on presentation
- A passion for the Chichester food scene and interest in vegetarian & vegan cuisine
- Knowledge and understanding of the 14 allergens and other dietary requirements
- You will have an excellent understanding of food hygiene, and EHO guidelines and procedures
Prior cheffing experience is necessary. You will not be required to menu plan or run costings as this is already undertaken by the company’s Head Chef, which will give you more time to focus on serving beautiful food.
There is also scope to express yourself by putting on specials. We are also looking to the future and wanting to develop our offering to include some creative evening services in our current venues.
The ideal candidate will be flexible to the expansion of business. This may include working in new 17 Grams cafe kitchen or in a prep kitchen developing our cafe counter offering.

Coffee Roaster | Lancing | Applications Closed
Overview
We are on the lookout for a rockstar coffee pro to step into an exciting role with us at 17 Grams Coffee Roasters. Motivated, autonomous and creative are some of the qualities we are looking for in our new Coffee Roaster. You will be ordering samples from some of the best green coffee suppliers in the business, roasting, cupping and deciding what fits best for our offering. You will ideally have experience in most aspects of coffee roasting production and will feel at home with roasting, packing, managing warehouse stock, weekly QC and regular equipment maintenance.

The Candidate
Ideally you’ve spent some time as a Production Roaster, Assistant Roaster or Head Roaster. You’re comfortable roasting blends, single origins and decaf and you’re no stranger to profiling a coffee or two. You are meticulous, creative and keep an organised space. You will ideally come with some knowledge about origins and regional profiles too.

We are currently looking for a well rounded Barista/FOH member to join our growing friendly team at our store on East Street in Chichester.
You will be brewing interesting and unique speciality grade coffee straight from our in-house roastery, on some of the best equipment available including Victoria Arduino Maverick, Mythos gravimetric grinders, Acaia scales and PuqPress. Full 17 Grams Coffee Roasters training and support will be provided.
We are well known for our seasonal brunch menu, exhibiting care with orders and a strong understanding of food safety and allergens is fundamental to this role.
We’re looking for people that share our team spirit, personality and values. Don’t worry if your coffee skills are not where you want them to be, we have the knowledge and equipment to help teach you that. However, we cannot teach you how to take pride in your work, show care and consideration towards our customers and have the backs of your team mates. If you think you can bring that then we’d love to hear from you.
Please note that this role will require you to work weekends and public holidays and you may be required to work at multiple sites.
The Candidate
- A minimum of 1 year as a barista in specialty coffee.
- Knowledgeable on food safety & allergens.
- Be competent and confident at dialling in a variety of coffees for both espresso and filter for optimal extraction and flavour, ensuring consistency throughout the day.
- Good organisation and timekeeping skills.
- Experience in a fast paced environment.
- Be able to produce consistently high quality textured milk and have at least basic latte art skills.
- Know how to open and close coffee machines, dial in grinders, clean an espresso machine.
