Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Valle Alto Ltda. began as a social initiative led by students from Pedro Ruiz Gallo National University, many of whom were children of coffee farmers. Through a program called “Give Back to Your Land What It Gave You,” they travelled to Lonya Grande to train young people in sustainable agriculture and help address the growing challenge of an aging farming population in Peru.

Inspired by these efforts, local farmers came together to form a cooperative in 2016. Today, Valle Alto focuses on supporting young farmers – both women and men – who are bringing innovation, energy, and resilience to the future of coffee farming.

With a strong belief that young producers are key to sustainable rural development, the cooperative continues to invest in the next generation of Peruvian coffee growers.
